The Clever Girl and the Magic Seeds
In a small village surrounded by green hills, there lived a clever girl named Tara. She was not rich but her heart was full of dreams. Tara was known for her quick thinking and bright smile that brought joy to everyone. Despite her family’s struggles, she always looked on the bright side of life.
One sunny day, as Tara wandered through the forest, she came across an old woman who seemed lost. The woman’s clothes were worn and her face showed signs of hardship. Tara felt a surge of compassion. “Are you alright Granny?” she asked gently. The old woman looked up and her eyes sparkled with gratitude. “I am in need of help. If you guide me back to my home, I shall reward you with something magical.”
Without a second thought, Tara offered her arm to the old woman and led her through the twisting paths of the forest. As they walked, the old woman shared stories of her youth filled with laughter and adventures. Tara listened with wide eyes feeling the warmth of the woman’s memories. When they finally reached the woman’s quaint cottage, she turned to Tara with a glowing face.
“Thank you dear child,” she said. “As promised, here are some magic seeds. Plant them in your garden and you will see wonders.” Tara’s heart leapt with hope. She accepted the seeds, imagining how they could change her family’s life.
Back at home, Tara carefully planted the seeds in her small garden pouring her love and care into them. Each day she watered them and watched over them like a mother with her child. She often remembered her mother’s wise words:
“कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन”
(Karmanye vadhikaraste ma phaleshu kadachana)
“Your right is to work only but never to the fruits of those works.”
Days passed and one morning Tara awoke to a magical sight. Her garden had burst into life overflowing with golden apples bright oranges and shimmering grapes. Each fruit glistened under the sun and Tara felt a joy she had never known before. News of her magical garden spread quickly through the village and everyone came to see the beauty.
However, not everyone was happy. The village chief a greedy man heard of Tara’s good fortune and felt envious. He plotted to steal her fruits for himself. One dark night he crept into her garden with a heart full of greed. But Tara was clever and had set traps around her garden.
As the chief reached for a golden apple he found himself caught in a net swinging upside down. Tara emerged from her house surprised but not angry. “What a foolish thief you are!” she said with a hint of a smile. “Did you really think you could take what isn’t yours?”
The chief hung there humiliated and frightened. “Please Tara I only wanted a taste of your fortune!” he pleaded his voice shaking. Tara felt a pang of empathy for him. Instead of punishing him she decided to teach him a lesson. “If you wish to enjoy my fruits you must work for them,” she said firmly yet kindly. “Help me take care of the garden and I will share my harvest with you.”
Realizing he had no other choice the chief agreed. Day by day as they worked together Tara’s kindness began to soften his heart. She showed him how to care for the plants and soon he found joy in watching them grow. Tara would laugh with delight whenever a new fruit appeared and her laughter became infectious.
As time passed the garden became a place where everyone could share in the bounty as long as they contributed to the work. The villagers were amazed at the change in the chief. He learned the value of hard work the joy of giving and the beauty of friendship.
The garden thrived becoming a symbol of unity in the village. Tara felt proud watching how her magic seeds had brought people together. As the seasons changed her garden was filled with laughter and joy transforming lives in the most beautiful way.
Tara often reminded her friends of the ancient wisdom:
“सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः”
(Sarve bhavantu sukhinah)
“May all be happy.”
The tale of Tara teaches us that cleverness and kindness can change lives that hard work brings rewards and that sharing what we have creates happiness. In the heart of the village Tara’s magic seeds blossomed into not just fruits but also friendships filling their lives with love and laughter.
